I love pretty much everything about the 90's.
Alternative rock & grundge- check!
Empire Records & Buffy the Vampire Slayer- oh yes!
Mohair v-neck sweaters and beaded chokers- you know it!
This fall, I'm bringing back the 90's. Some people might think that it's too soon, but I don't really care. Here is some of the inspiration for my upcoming 90's fall wackiness, and some of my favorite 90's must haves. Just remember, you saw it here first <3
Beepers are one of the first things that pop into my mind when I think "90's". My parents never got me one so you can imagine my embarrassment when a boy would ask me for my beeper number and I had to give them my house number. I didn't have my own line either :(
Depending on your age during the 90's, you may not have been into Tomagotchi's, but they were the shit. I think every girl in my school would secretly be feeding theirs under their desks.
I am not a gamer; I haven't played a video game since I was a young buck. But Super Nintendo was awesome!!! My favorite games were Super Mario-kart, Donkey Kong, and Mortal Kombat.
Ren & Stimpy is probably one of my all-time favorite cartoons. Remember Powdered Toast Man?! Or the rubber nipples episode?? If you're a fan, hit up Netflix, or go Blockbuster and rent the Ren & Stimpy: The Lost Episodes; you won't be disappointed.
Omg Daria. This was one of the not-music MTV successes. I always felt like Daria and I were kindred spirits, her being all awkward and awesome.
Turtle Power!!!!! This show was so freaking epic. Michelangelo was always my fav. I have to thank my little bro for this one, we would watch it together when he was little.
Do not laugh, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my FAVORITE T.V. show everrrrr! I've watched the whole series through about 10 times. P.s. Twilight fans- Buffy and Angel are way cooler than Edward and Bella.
Empire records is undoubtedly my favorite 90's flick. My way cool, older sister gave me this movie to watch when I was like 8. If I were stranded on a deserted island, and could only bring 5 movies with me, it would be Empire Records, Scarface, Love Affair (the 1939 version), Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
My So Called Life should have had like 20 seasons! It's one of the few teen dramas I have ever been able to stomach. There are so many ways I relate to this show... but that's for another post. Besides, you wanna talk 90's hotties? Jared Leto is a hunk.
I love this movie!!!! Don't scoff, but there will be a lot of ensemble inspiration from this movie for my outfits this fall.
My favorite thing about the 90's is the music; hands down. Here is but a snippet of some of my favorite 90's jams. For your listening pleasure: alternative & grunge, 90's hip-hop, and boy/ girl bands... Peep my wardrobe preview later this week on my
fashion column. Peace!
